“Gaucho” is a word that roughly translates as “cowboy”, but has different meanings in the countries it is used. Pronounced “GOW-cho” in Argentina, but in Brazil it is pronounced “ga-U-sho”. In Brazil, this term refers to people from Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in the country of Brazil (which borders both Argentina and Uruguay). CTG stands for The Center for Gaucho Traditions (Centro de Tradições Gaucho) and the “Saudades da Querencia” means (roughly) missing my place of birth. There are many CTG’s throughout the world (Gauchos are very proud of their heritage and culture). This particular one is located near the beach in the city of Cabedelo in Paraiba. This was my first time coming here and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The people are very friendly, the food is excellent (Gauchos are known for their barbecue, and it was terrific!). They really know how to season their meat. When I got there, they were barbecuing a couple of sides of beef, many pieces of pork and chicken and lots of other things too. The music is great (they had a musician playing traditional songs from the area on an accordion), the people are friendly and the service is great too!
